Letter to Students and ParentsMy name is Ms. King. I teach AP Language & Composition for the 2020-2021 School year! To say that I am excited about this upcoming school year, even in the midst of a pandemic, is a gross understatement!
Our classroom theme again this year is: "Learn a Latte...Take a Sip"! What do you dream of becoming? How do you 'picture' yourself, others, the world? What do you see? How much of what you see do you believe shapes your perception of things, places and the people around you? Answers to those questions are as vast as they are personal. I challenge you to not only discover/learn who you are, but decide who you want to be, and how that person will help make this world a better place. Now, I’ll share a little about myself. I have been teaching high school English/Language Arts for the past 14 years. The first three years were in Orlando, Florida (it is truly the “City Beautiful”). Seven years after that have been in Fulton County at Westlake HS, Tri-Cities HS and Banneker HS. Currently, I teach at Maynard Jackson High -- Home of the Jaguars! I am an AP Language and AP Literature Certified instructor who enjoys using my expertise to advance the academic prowess of all my students. To My Parents: A great educator once noted that, “students will rise to the level of expectations set for them.” I have extremely high expectations of all my students, and for that I will not apologize. I ask for your help with maintaining those expectations by checking with your son/daughter periodically to make sure that his/her work is being completed on time especially during our virtual learning due to the pandemic. I am available to help students during our scheduled class times, before class times and after class times. In the coming weeks, please look for more information regarding how I plan to move the students forward to ensure their success on the Advanced Placement Language & Composition exam due to be administered Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 8:00am EST. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach me at [email protected], or at 678-337-1343 (Google Voice - call or text). Kind regards. |
